Project #10903 - Glass Doors for Fireplace

Customer Comments: I have these subtle black frames on the wood cabinets so the fireplace door also needs to be black in color. The opening is still 22 x 28 and I’ll need like a 1/4" or 1/8" of overlap on top of the tiles.

Our Comments: On a prefabricated fireplace like yours, you cannot overlap the tile with any of the doors from Design Specialties. This is because we cannot block the airflow into a zero clerance fireplace. We can only use the high end doors made by Stone Manufacturing that are designed to overlap the tile.

Fireplace Opening: 28" W x 22" H

Note: These mock-ups are not to scale and are meant to help you choose the model of your screen or door, not the finish. Although we may create a general representation of black, iron, bronze, gold and silver tones, you must choose your finish from our samples using the links below. Ask your project manager which samples apply to the items in your project.

Overlapping Doors for Prefab Fireplaces

These doors are specially designed with 1/4" spacers on the back of the frame, or larger gaps between the glass and the frame, to allow air to flow freely into the fireplace while overlapping the facing.

Hingeless Door
Hingeless Twin Fireplace Door Option #1: HLD-1 Hingeless Twin Door in Flat Black with Clear Glass and Mesh Curtains. This can also be a bifold door and does not require spacers.
Minimal-1
Minimal-1 Fireplace Door Option #2: Minimal-1 Fireplace Glass Door with 5/8" Wide Angle Trim in Flat Black with Gloss Black Handles and Hinges.
Sliding Door
Solid Brass Fireplace Door Option #3: SD Sliding Fireplace Door in Flat Black with 1 3/4" Wide Frame. This door has 2 fixed panes of glass on the right and left sides and 2 sliding panes in the center and would require 1/4" spacers.
Solid Brass
Solid Brass Fireplace Door Option #4: Channel Bifold Door in Flat Black with 1 3/4" Wide Frame. This door requires 1/4" spacers.
Hybrid-2
Hybrid 2 Fireplace Door Option #5: HYBRID-2 Bifold Fireplace Glass Door in Flat Black. This door fits inside the opening and does not overlap the tile. There is no frame on the sides, so it will provide the most minimal look. If your tile edges need to be covered, a trim can be added around the opening as shown in Option #2.

Mesh & Insulation Options

The Mesh options are behind the glass so you can burn the fire with the doors open and still have spark protection. Great for real wood or gas logs since most gas long manufacturers insist that you have a screen in front of the logs when they are burning. Mesh panel doors are the most popular and are best for when there are toddlers present because they will not open backwards whereas the mesh screens are easily pushed in. Insulation goes between the back of the frame and the fireplace facing, providing a better seal.

Black Mesh Curtains - These slide back and forth on a rod behind the glass
Gate Mesh Doors - These are separate doors behind the glass that have a flat wire mesh and a black frame.
Insulation: Provides a better seal between the fireplace face and the door frame.
