Project #10911 - Glass Doors for Fireplace
Customer Comments: Hello, I Have attached 3 pictures. One of them has the specifications. We would like a built in black metal curtain screen but are open to free standing screen options as well. Thank you.
Our Comments: There are two types of screens we recommend for corner "L-Shaped" fireplaces like yours. Either a bar and mesh or glass doors with mesh. Glass doors are more expensive, but provide the added benefit of closing off the fireplace to prevent cold air from coming into your home. The bar and mesh can be made with just a top bar, or with a top and bottom bar (fender). The fender helps keep the mesh from popping open when a long rolls off the grate. The fender can also be made with a pet deterrent channel that the mesh slides in which helps keep pets and small children out of the fireplace.

Glass Doors
Most of the glass doors you see on our website can be made to fit corner fireplaces. We chose to use the door below as an example as it is one of the least expensive and easiest to install.

Mesh & Insulation Options
The Mesh options are behind the glass so you can burn the fire with the doors open and still have spark protection. Great for real wood or gas logs since most gas long manufacturers insist that you have a screen in front of the logs when they are burning. Mesh panel doors are the most popular and are best for when there are toddlers present because they will not open backwards whereas the mesh screens are easily pushed in. Insulation goes between the back of the frame and the fireplace facing, providing a better seal.
