Project #10915 - Hidden Fireplace Pocket Doors
Customer Comments: Hello, I appreciate your help in figuring out my fireplace. We are completely gutting the first floor and want a minimal, modern look to it. The dimensions of the opening is 36" wide x 37.125" tall. The original door was 28"w x38" high. We'd like that same slimmer look to the door but not sure what to do. Happy to answer any questions you have.
Our Comments: We would like to present a prototype concept to you. These are hidden pocket doors that slide in behind the fireplace facing. So this door mechanism would need to be installed before you apply the facing. This door has never been built, but the plans are in the making. You could be the first to do this. We created these mockups using a large format gray tile as an example.
Fireplace Opening: 36" W x 37 1/8" H
Note: These mock-ups are not to scale and are meant to help you choose the model of your screen or door, not the finish. Although we may create a general representation of black, iron, bronze, gold and silver tones, you must choose your finish from our samples using the links below. Ask your project manager which samples apply to the items in your project.

Example Application Photo
Here's a real life example of a sliding pocket mesh door. This door has mesh panels instead of glass, but the concept is the same. This is not a prototype, it is an actual installation.
Mesh & Insulation Options
The Mesh options are behind the glass so you can burn the fire with the doors open and still have spark protection. Great for real wood or gas logs since most gas long manufacturers insist that you have a screen in front of the logs when they are burning. Mesh panel doors are the most popular and are best for when there are toddlers present because they will not open backwards whereas the mesh screens are easily pushed in. Insulation goes between the back of the frame and the fireplace facing, providing a better seal.
