Project #10916 - Glass Doors for Fireplace

Customer Comments: Hi, I am in need of some help to get a better looking fireplace look since one of the doors is broken and nobody can seem to help. So I would like to redo the fireplace. It is a corner fireplace made by Montigo and the model number is M38DV-CR/CL and I don't know if it is CL or CR maybe by the pictures you will know. Anyway I am attaching 4 photos since the fireplace has an additional side. Please contact me if you have any questions. I have detailed measurements for almost all parts of the fireplace. Thanks.

Our Comments: The glass doors on this fireplace are purely decorative since the fireplace itself has air tight glass panels behind the decorative glass doors. The first option below shows how replacement glass doors might look on your fireplace. This will not dress it up and it will look very similar to how it does currently.

Dressing up this type of fireplace is best done with something that hides the fireplace, making it look more like a traditional masonry fireplace. This can be done with a specially designed free standing corner fireplace screen. We incorporate a double wire mesh around the perimeter that helps block the view of what's behind it while the inner sections are a thinner single mesh that you can see through more easily to view the fire. To make this work best, we suggest you paint the metal louvers black so they disappear behind the screen.

Fireplace Opening: Left Side: 35 7/16” W x 18 3/8” H
Right Side: 21 7/8” W x 18 3/8” H

Note: These mock-ups are not to scale and are meant to help you choose the model of your screen or door, not the finish. Although we may create a general representation of black, iron, bronze, gold and silver tones, you must choose your finish from our samples using the links below. Ask your project manager which samples apply to the items in your project.

Free Standing Corner Fireplace Screens

These screens are hand crafted by artisans at Stone Manufacturing from solid brass with a double mesh on the outer portion to help hide the louvers on your fireplace. The brass is available in a wide variety of finishes and decorative castings as shown further below. These are very high end ($3500 to $5000) and will completely transform the look of the fireplace. We also included matching fireplace tools on the left side to help balance the look of the corner. There are less expensive alternatives made from plain steel if solid brass is beyond the budget.

Replacement Glass Doors

These doors would replace your current doors entirely. We cannot just replace the broken left side since our doors come with their own frames and we cannot fabricate a frame to match your current door. The price for a new door like this would be in the $2000 to $2500 price range

Mesh & Insulation Options

The Mesh options are behind the glass so you can burn the fire with the doors open and still have spark protection. Great for real wood or gas logs since most gas long manufacturers insist that you have a screen in front of the logs when they are burning. Mesh panel doors are the most popular and are best for when there are toddlers present because they will not open backwards whereas the mesh screens are easily pushed in. Insulation goes between the back of the frame and the fireplace facing, providing a better seal.

Black Mesh Curtains - These slide back and forth on a rod behind the glass
Gate Mesh Doors - These are separate doors behind the glass that have a flat wire mesh and a black frame.
Insulation: Provides a better seal between the fireplace face and the door frame.
