Project #10925 - Glass Doors for Fireplace

Customer Comments: I would like the frame named Caroline W/ Sunrise window pane. First color choice to be Rustic Copper / Second- Hardwood Bronze / Third- Mahogany Powder coat. At the tightest points of the opening. The width is 33 1/4” and the height is 30 1/4”. Is it possible to have a signal pane glass on each door or is the bi-fold door the only option?

Our Comments: The Carolina can be made with a 1 1/2" or 2" wide frame. The most the 2" frame can overlap the opening is 1 1/4" leaving 1/4" room for play. The gaps in the stones appear to be more than 1 1/4" at points on the right side, so an overlap fitting door may not cover those gaps completely. The alternative is to use the 1 1/2" wide frame and fit it inside the opening and fill the gaps with mortar, or use a Legend door which can be made with an even wider frame. We are showing all of these options below. Regarding the finishes, Hardwood Bronze is not a finish from Design Specialties, who makes the Carolina doors, so we have not included that finish.

Frame Depth: The Carolina has a subframe that goes into the fireplace 2" and the Legend 1 1/2". That means the stones that you have inside the fireplace may not fit between the frame and the glass burner. Just something to be aware of.

Fireplace Opening: 33 1/4" W x 30 1/4" H

Although we may create a general representation of black, iron, bronze, gold and silver tones, you must choose your finish from our samples using the links below. Fig #1 - Closeup. The red two lines show the irregularities in the stone. If there is more than 1 1/4" between these lines, the frame cannot cover the gaps and you may need to use the Legend door which can have a wider frame.

Mesh & Insulation Options

The Mesh options are behind the glass so you can burn the fire with the doors open and still have spark protection. Great for real wood or gas logs since most gas long manufacturers insist that you have a screen in front of the logs when they are burning. Mesh panel doors are the most popular and are best for when there are toddlers present because they will not open backwards whereas the mesh screens are easily pushed in. Insulation goes between the back of the frame and the fireplace facing, providing a better seal.

Black Mesh Curtains - These slide back and forth on a rod behind the glass
Gate Mesh Doors - These are separate doors behind the glass that have a flat wire mesh and a black frame.
Insulation: Provides a better seal between the fireplace face and the door frame.
