Project #10973 - Glass Doors for Porcelain Fireplace w/Burning Glass

Customer Comments: We want something sleek and modern, black frame, just class not much design

Our Comments: Your fireplace affords us the rare opportunity to show of one of the most unique fireplace treatments, and if I must say, one of my favorites. It is called the Floating Glass Screen. It is not a door, but a frame that holds a single piece of 1/2" thick tempered glass about 4" away from the fireplace opening. This is an awesome custom look and you don't have to open and close it like all of the other options on this page. Of course, if you are wanting to seal off the fireplace when it is not in use, but this is a designer application tailor made for the style of your room.

Fireplace Opening: 47" W x 35" H

Note: These mock-ups are not to scale and are meant to help you choose the model of your screen or door, not the finish. Although we may create a general representation of black, iron, bronze, gold and silver tones, you must choose your finish from our samples using the links below. Ask your project manager which samples apply to the items in your project.

Floating Glass Screen

This is a very unique high end fireplace treatment that we think is ideal for your fireplace. The Floating Glass Screen has a simple black frame with 4 posts that hold a 1/2" thick piece of glass about 4" away from the fireplace opening, as if it is floating in air. The round posts that hold the glass are of the same character as the glass banister on the opposing side of the room.

Low End Aluminum Doors

Aluminum is an excellent material for fireplace doors because it does not rust and can handle high temperatures when treated with powder coated finishes. It is also the most affordable.

Medium Range Steel Doors

Steel doors are more substantial than the less expensive aluminum doors. They are heavy duty and rugged and are more customizable because the frames are laser cut.

High End Hand Crafted Solid Brass

These doors are hand crafted by skilled artisans from Solid Brass or Steel, depending on the finish that is desired. Very high end, and very refined. Items made from solid brass come in a wide variety of hand crafted patinas and other finishes. Satin Nickel finishes done on solid brass are the finest quality and will not rust like plated steel.

Mesh & Insulation Options

The Mesh options are behind the glass so you can burn the fire with the doors open and still have spark protection. Great for real wood or gas logs since most gas long manufacturers insist that you have a screen in front of the logs when they are burning. Mesh panel doors are the most popular and are best for when there are toddlers present because they will not open backwards whereas the mesh screens are easily pushed in. Insulation goes between the back of the frame and the fireplace facing, providing a better seal.

Black Mesh Curtains - These slide back and forth on a rod behind the glass
Gate Mesh Doors - These are separate doors behind the glass that have a flat wire mesh and a black frame.
Insulation: Provides a better seal between the fireplace face and the door frame.
