Project #10977 - Glass Doors for Fireplace
Customer Comments: Hello, fireplace door opening measurements are 34W x 27 1/2H. I'm looking for a simple door, nothing too fancy, also want it to be inside mount. I don't want a outside border.
Our Comments: The Minimal-1 door in Option #1 is made specifically to fit inside the fireplace opening. It has no frame on the sides at all, just angle iron frames to hold the glass in place on the top and bottom. All of the other doors on our site are really best made to overlap the opening by about 1/4", which does not take away from the look of the marble. They can also be made to fit inside, but there needs to be some clearance allowed for the expansion of the metal, so a small gap of 1/8" needs to be left between the frame and the marble, otherwise the marble may crack from heat expansion. Those made by Design Specialties have a +- 1/8" manufacturing tolerance and must be made at least 3/16" less on each side, which will require filling with grout. Those made by Stone Manufacturing have a tolerance of +0 to - 1/16", so they can be made pretty much exact and will not require grout if the fireplace is perfectly square.
Fireplace Opening: 34" W x 27 1/2" H

High End Doors by Stone Manufacturing
These doors are hand crafted by skilled artisans from Solid Brass or Steel, depending on the finish that is desired. Very high end, and very refined. Items made from solid brass come in a wide variety of hand crafted patinas and other finishes. Satin Nickel finishes done on solid brass are the finest quality and will not rust like plated steel.

Medium Range Steel Doors
Steel doors are more substantial than the less expensive aluminum doors. They are heavy duty and rugged and are more customizable because the frames are laser cut.

Low End Aluminum Doors
Aluminum is an excellent material for fireplace doors because it does not rust and can handle high temperatures when treated with powder coated finishes. It is also the most affordable.

Solid Brass Castings
Use your imagination to create the perfect fireplace screen with these solid brass castings from Stone Manufacturing. Compliment architectural details in the mantel or other furnishings in our home, or simply create your own unique look. Available in a wide variety of finishes.

Mesh & Insulation Options
The Mesh options are behind the glass so you can burn the fire with the doors open and still have spark protection. Great for real wood or gas logs since most gas long manufacturers insist that you have a screen in front of the logs when they are burning. Mesh panel doors are the most popular and are best for when there are toddlers present because they will not open backwards whereas the mesh screens are easily pushed in. Insulation goes between the back of the frame and the fireplace facing, providing a better seal.
