Glass Doors for See Through Stone Fireplace - Project #10999
Customer Comments: Excited to see the "Mockups" but I'm actually needing a bid on the two doors detailed in the attached pdf document. I believe I have provided you with all the information you require. It would be nice if the mockup has the Sunrise Window Pane doors. Also note that the Legend has a custom 2 15/16 wide frame which I have already confirmed with the company is able to be done. Any other questions give me a call.
Our Comments: We have provided mockups fo rthe two doors as requested. We also added a couple others that depict completely different ways to handle this fireplace. Due to the irregularity in the stone, we normally will recommend fitting the doors inside and filling the gaps with mortar in order to provide a clean finished look. Overlap fitting doors will leave wide gaps between the stone and the back of the frame. If the overall finished plane of the stone is not too irregular, an overlap fit may be sufficient, but if any of the stones stick out much further than others, it will prevent the door frame from going flat to the rest of the stones. Cutting a piece of plywood to the finished dimensions you requested may be the best way to determine how large the gaps will be with an overlap fit.
Fireplace Opening: 36 1/2" W x 22" H (to lintel)
Note: These mock-ups are not to scale and are meant to help you choose the model of your screen or door, not the finish. Although we may create a general representation of black, iron, bronze, gold and silver tones, you must choose your finish from our samples using the links below. Ask your project manager which samples apply to the items in your project.

Low End Aluminum Doors
Aluminum is an excellent material for fireplace doors because it does not rust and can handle high temperatures when treated with powder coated finishes. It is also the most affordable.

Medium Range Steel Doors
Steel doors are more substantial than the less expensive aluminum doors. They are heavy duty and rugged and are more customizable because the frames are laser cut.

High End Hand Crafted Wrought Iron/Steel Doors
Hand crafted doors take on a more rugged natural look for those who appreciate craftsmanship tasteful details.

Mesh & Insulation Options
The Mesh options are behind the glass so you can burn the fire with the doors open and still have spark protection. Great for real wood or gas logs since most gas long manufacturers insist that you have a screen in front of the logs when they are burning. Mesh panel doors are the most popular and are best for when there are toddlers present because they will not open backwards whereas the mesh screens are easily pushed in. Insulation goes between the back of the frame and the fireplace facing, providing a better seal.
