Custom Fireplace Glass Doors - Project #11014

Customer Comments: I need a screen for my fireplace that is 43”W by 27”H. I’d like black iron w screen doors. We were looking for a screen front, not a glass front. Thank you for your help.

Our Comments: We have created a variety of mockups for you including screen doors that are attached to the fireplace, free standing screen doors, a folding screen with doors and a couple single panel screens without doors. Looking at your room, we believe a brass or antique brass finish might actually look best. We would also suggest you consider a single panel screen since they provide an unobstructed view of the fire. Hope this helps!

Fireplace Opening: 43" W x 27" H

Note: These mock-ups are not to scale and are meant to help you choose the model of your screen or door, not the finish. Although we may create a general representation of black, iron, bronze, gold and silver tones, you must choose your finish from our samples using the links below. Ask your project manager which samples apply to the items in your project.

Attached Screen Doors

Screen doors that are attached to the fireplace are the most sturdy and secure since they are held tight to the fireplace with brackets that are screwed into the bricks inside the fireplace.

Free Standing Mesh Doors

Free standing mesh doors have legs that hold them up just like any other free standing screen. They are not attached to the fireplace so they are not as rigid and care needs to be taken when you open the doors so you do not accidentally pull them over. It takes a lot to pull them over, but just keep in mind they will rock slightly when you pull the doors since they are not affixed to anything.

Folding Screen with Doors

This is the most elegant of all the selections and likely one you have not seen anywhere else. A folding screen with doors. This screen can have the side panels bolted to the floor for added stability as an option or you can use it just like it is.

Folding Screen
3 Fold Solid Brass Folding Screen with Doors Option #9: TDF33 Solid Brass 3-Fold Screen with Doors and Fleur De Lis Ornaments in Antique Brass. This is a highly elegant hand crafted screen (quite expensive). The sides can be bolted to the floor for great stability if desired.

Single Panel Screens

We included these single panel screens because we believe this is the best type of screen for your application. Single panel fireplace screens do not vertical frames in the center, so they will give you an unobstructed view of the fire.

Mesh & Insulation Options

The Mesh options are behind the glass so you can burn the fire with the doors open and still have spark protection. Great for real wood or gas logs since most gas long manufacturers insist that you have a screen in front of the logs when they are burning. Mesh panel doors are the most popular and are best for when there are toddlers present because they will not open backwards whereas the mesh screens are easily pushed in. Insulation goes between the back of the frame and the fireplace facing, providing a better seal.

Black Mesh Curtains - These slide back and forth on a rod behind the glass
Gate Mesh Doors - These are separate doors behind the glass that have a flat wire mesh and a black frame.
Insulation: Provides a better seal between the fireplace face and the door frame.
