Glass Doors for Prefab Fireplace Raised In Wall - Project #11057

Customer Comments: Hi we are looking to replace a door to our fireplace. Looking for a black frame with bi fold glass doors. Can you provide me an estimate and a mockup? The measurement of the opening is 3ft 6 1/4 inches x 1 ft 9 1/8 inches.

Our Comments: We have doors that fit inside the opening and overlap the opening. Here are a few examples.

Fireplace Opening: 42 1/4" W x 21 1/8" H

Note: These mock-ups are not to scale and are meant to help you choose the model of your screen or door, not the finish. Although we may create a general representation of black, iron, bronze, gold and silver tones, you must choose your finish from our samples using the links below. Ask your project manager which samples apply to the items in your project.

Inside Fitting Doors

These doors fit inside the black metal part of the opening. They are made with a gap of about 1/8" on all sides.

Stiletto Fireplace Door Option #1: Stiletto ZC Fireplace Glass Door in Rustic Black with Clear Glass. This door fits completely inside the black metal opening of the fireplace.

Overlap Fitting Doors

These doors are designed to overlap the opening so there is no gap around the door for a more clean look. Doors that overlap the opening must have some means of allowing air to flow freely into the fireplace either by having slots in the frame or 1/4" spacers on the back of the frame.

Slots are hidden on the inside of the frame with 1/4" gaps between the left and right glass panels to allow free airflow.

Mid-Century Modern Fireplace Door Option #4: Mid-Century Modern I door in Flat Black. This door has no handles. The outer frame stands out from the back frame allowing you to get your fingers around the frame to open the door. This door would require 1/4" spacers on the back of the frame.

Mesh & Insulation Options

The Mesh options are behind the glass so you can burn the fire with the doors open and still have spark protection. Great for real wood or gas logs since most gas long manufacturers insist that you have a screen in front of the logs when they are burning. Mesh panel doors are the most popular and are best for when there are toddlers present because they will not open backwards whereas the mesh screens are easily pushed in. Insulation goes between the back of the frame and the fireplace facing, providing a better seal.

Black Mesh Curtains - These slide back and forth on a rod behind the glass
Gate Mesh Doors - These are separate doors behind the glass that have a flat wire mesh and a black frame.
Insulation: Provides a better seal between the fireplace face and the door frame.
