Glass Doors for Zero Clearance Fireplace with Stacked Stone Facing - Project #11071

Customer Comments: Hi, I'm hoping to get doors in-hand in about 2-3 weeks from now, so I have a feeling we're going to have to go with something in-stock. Pictures are included below (pardon the messy room, we're decorating). Ideally, I'd like an inner gate screen (I'll remove the curtain screen shown in the photos). Our style is a dressed-up craftsman look. Ideal color would be black or dark oil-rubbed bronze, nothing bright/gold. I would tend to prefer gate-style doors, but I’m open to others too. I want to be able to close the glass doors while the fire is burning, if needed (e.g. if the fire is generating a lot of smoke, as it is a natural log/burning fireplace). Please forward mock-ups of the best options. Thanks so much!

Our Comments: There is nothing stock that will fit your fireplace. Prefab firelpaces do not use stock doors, so there is no way we can meet that timeline. Here are some options for custom doors. You can either have the doors made to fit inside the black metal opening or made to cover the black metal at the bottom. We have created examples of both options.

Fireplace Opening: 42" W x 23 3/8" H

Note: These mock-ups are not to scale and are meant to help you choose the model of your screen or door, not the finish. Although we may create a general representation of black, iron, bronze, gold and silver tones, you must choose your finish from our samples using the links below. Ask your project manager which samples apply to the items in your project.

Affordable Aluminum Doors

Aluminum is an excellent material for fireplace doors because it does not rust and can handle high temperatures when treated with powder coated finishes. It is also the most affordable.

Medium Range Steel Doors

Steel doors are more substantial than the less expensive aluminum doors. They are heavy duty and rugged and are more customizable because the frames are laser cut, so we can cover the black metal at the bottom.

Mesh & Insulation Options

The Mesh options are behind the glass so you can burn the fire with the doors open and still have spark protection. Great for real wood or gas logs since most gas long manufacturers insist that you have a screen in front of the logs when they are burning. Mesh panel doors are the most popular and are best for when there are toddlers present because they will not open backwards whereas the mesh screens are easily pushed in. Insulation goes between the back of the frame and the fireplace facing, providing a better seal.

Black Mesh Curtains - These slide back and forth on a rod behind the glass
Gate Mesh Doors - These are separate doors behind the glass that have a flat wire mesh and a black frame.
Insulation: Provides a better seal between the fireplace face and the door frame.
