Cover with Louvers for Direct Vent Gas Fireplace - Project #11097
Customer Comments: I'm looking to design and order a hearth for this fireplace. I'll need Louvers at the top and louvers or a custom register for the bottom (so that the remote works). On the right I possibly want a matching unit to hold wood.
Our Comments: Here are a few examples of how we would treat a direct vent gas fireplace with a "DV Retrim Front". These attach to the fireplace with heavy duty rare earth magnets. They can be made as a single fixed screen with a removable bottom louver or a single operable door that can be opened to access the bottom control panel.
You will need to test your remote to see if it will work when it is behind something. An infrared remote may be problematic behind a wire mesh where as a radio frequency remote should have no issues. So it is important to know which type of remote you have. Once you get a better idea of the style of facing you want we can address having a matching wood holder made.

Mesh & Insulation Options
The Mesh options are behind the glass so you can burn the fire with the doors open and still have spark protection. Great for real wood or gas logs since most gas long manufacturers insist that you have a screen in front of the logs when they are burning. Mesh panel doors are the most popular and are best for when there are toddlers present because they will not open backwards whereas the mesh screens are easily pushed in. Insulation goes between the back of the frame and the fireplace facing, providing a better seal.
