Glass Doors to Convert Arch to Rectangle - Project #11134
Customer Comments: Hi- my wife wants to eliminate the arch on our fireplace. Do you sell a black matte square insert that would give the illusion of a square fire place? Measurements: 33.5w x 31h (highest point with arch). We don't use the heat exchanger. The blower is a bit noisy.
Our Comments: We can certainly accomplish your wife's desires. We would need to make the top frame of the door to meet the lowest point of the arch to 1/2" to 1" taller than the high point to overlap the opening. Here are some examples of this. If you remove the heat exchanger it will allow us to overlap the bottom and create doors that have a linear look, which is a very popular trend, particularly when there is a TV above the fireplace.

Arch to Rectangle Fireplace Doors
Steel doors are more substantial than the less expensive aluminum doors. They are heavy duty and rugged and are more customizable because the frames are laser cut.
Option #1: Legend Fireplace Glass Door with Rustic Black Frame and Satin Nickel Doors. This shows how the door would look if you keep the heat exchanger. All of the other examples are with the heat exchanger removed.
Option #2: Legend Fireplace Glass Door with Rustic Black Frame and Satin Nickel Doors. Same as Option #1 but with the heat exchanger removed and the door overlapping the bottom.

Mesh & Insulation Options
The Mesh options are behind the glass so you can burn the fire with the doors open and still have spark protection. Great for real wood or gas logs since most gas long manufacturers insist that you have a screen in front of the logs when they are burning. Mesh panel doors are the most popular and are best for when there are toddlers present because they will not open backwards whereas the mesh screens are easily pushed in. Insulation goes between the back of the frame and the fireplace facing, providing a better seal.
Black Mesh Curtains - These slide back and forth on a rod behind the glass
Gate Mesh Doors - These are separate doors behind the glass that have a flat wire mesh and a black frame.
Insulation: Provides a better seal between the fireplace face and the door frame.
