Mesh Curtain Options for Large Fireplace - Project #11143

Customer Comments: Hi, I'm looking to install a fireplace mesh screen with a curtain style wrought iron rod to match (or close to match) my outdoor curtain rods. I've attached pics of the fireplace, which has rough opening of 50" (w) x 59.5" (h). Best regards.

Our Comments: We can make a closet mount curtain rode with large rings and mesh curtains to compliment your curtain rod and fireplace. We have included some other options that flatter your fireplace as well that you may not have know exist.

Fireplace Opening: 50" W x 59 1/2" H

Decorative Fireplace Curtain Screens

Mesh curtains have been around since the early 1950's and come in a variety of styles and finishes. One drawback that people have experienced over the years is that when a log rolls off the grate, the mesh curtains do little to prevent it from rolling out onto the hearth or floor. To prevent this from happening, you can add a bottom bar that will prevent the mesh from flying open. We have depicted that in some of the mockups below.

Mesh & Insulation Options

The Mesh options are behind the glass so you can burn the fire with the doors open and still have spark protection. Great for real wood or gas logs since most gas long manufacturers insist that you have a screen in front of the logs when they are burning. Mesh panel doors are the most popular and are best for when there are toddlers present because they will not open backwards whereas the mesh screens are easily pushed in. Insulation goes between the back of the frame and the fireplace facing, providing a better seal.

Black Mesh Curtains - These slide back and forth on a rod behind the glass
Gate Mesh Doors - These are separate doors behind the glass that have a flat wire mesh and a black frame.
Insulation: Provides a better seal between the fireplace face and the door frame.
