Glass Doors for Black Granite Fireplace - Project #11145
Customer Comments: I would like bi fold glass doors with black trim. The opening is 22" h and 42" wide. I'm not worried about the decor match per se, as long as it goes with the black.
Our Comments: Glass doors for prefab fireplaces must be designed to allow air to flow into the fireplace in strategic locations in order to prevent the fireplace from overheating. Some doors must fit inside the opening while others can overlap. Overlap fitting doors allow airflow by having 1/4" spacers on the back of the frame, hidden vents inside the frame or an air vent built into the frame. We are presenting options representing each of these types of doors in a variety of price ranges.

Affordable Aluminum Doors
Aluminum is an excellent material for fireplace doors because it does not rust and can handle high temperatures when treated with powder coated finishes. It is also the most affordable.
Option #1: Design Specialties Stiletto Inside Fit ZC Fireplace Glass Door in Rustic Black. Has larger gaps between the glass panes for airflow.
Option #2: Hearth Creations Profile 6 Overlap Fit ZC Fireplace Glass Door with Bull-Nose Frame in Matte Black. This door has hidden air slots inside the frame.
Medium Range Steel Doors
Steel doors are more substantial than the less expensive aluminum doors. They are heavy duty and rugged and are more customizable because the frames are laser cut.
Option #3: Hearth Creations Modernist 1 Twin ZC Fireplace Door in Matte Black. This can also be made as a bifold door. Uses 1/4" spacers on the back of the frame for airflow.
Option #4: Hearth Creations Trimline Fireplace Door in Matte Black. Has a a uniquely designed slot in the middl of the frame for airflow.
High End Hand Crafted Doors
These doors are hand crafted by skilled artisans and are very high end and refined using only the highest quality materials.
Option #5A: Stone Manufacturing SD Hand Crafted Sliding Fireplace Door in Gloss Black (shown with doors open). This door has 2 fixed panes of glass on the right and left sides and 2 sliding panes in the center. Uses 1/4" spacers on the back of the frame for airflow.
Option #5B: Stone Manufacturing SD Sliding Door Shown with Doors Closed
Option #6: Stone Manufacturing DF1G Hand Crated with Gloss Black Steel Outer Frame and Nickel Plated Solid Brass Doors. Uses 1/4" spacers on the back of the frame for airflow.

Mesh & Insulation Options
The Mesh options are behind the glass so you can burn the fire with the doors open and still have spark protection. Great for real wood or gas logs since most gas long manufacturers insist that you have a screen in front of the logs when they are burning. Mesh panel doors are the most popular and are best for when there are toddlers present because they will not open backwards whereas the mesh screens are easily pushed in. Insulation goes between the back of the frame and the fireplace facing, providing a better seal.
Black Mesh Curtains - These slide back and forth on a rod behind the glass
Gate Mesh Doors - These are separate doors behind the glass that have a flat wire mesh and a black frame.
Insulation: Provides a better seal between the fireplace face and the door frame.
