Minimal Frame Glass Doors for Marble Fireplace - Project #11154

Customer Comments: Dear Sir/ To whom it may concern, my preference would be to have an non noticeable fireplace glass door, simple, clean, minimal appearance, frameless glass doors, an inside fit or a cutback open to a door with narrow frame with minimal overlap. no mesh doors, clear glass, matte finish, Color of the frame would be similar and blend into the stone color. I am thinking about the following frames: Stiletto cutback glass door, #163 minimal 1 (round hinges), Legend elite custom fireplace glass door (* Please tell me what is the width of this frame), Hybrid-2 Bifold Fireplace glass door. Thank you very much.

Our Comments: Don't think we could have made better recommendations than the doors you chose, so we have created mockups of each of those models. Of all the models chosen, the Minimal-1 is the most minimal and comes with 3/8" thick glass, making it even more appealing. Doors show as bifold can also be made as cabinet doors.

Fireplace Opening: 41 3/4" W x 35 3/4" H

Note: These mock-ups are not to scale and are meant to help you choose the model of your screen or door, not the finish. Although we may create a general representation of black, iron, bronze, gold and silver tones, you must choose your finish from our samples using the links below. Ask your project manager which samples apply to the items in your project.

About Finishes!

Before
Before:

Affordable Aluminum Doors

Aluminum is an excellent material for fireplace doors because it does not rust and can handle high temperatures when treated with powder coated finishes. It is also the most affordable.

Stiletto
Stiletto Fireplace Door Option #1: Stiletto Cutback Fireplace Glass Door in Natural Iron. This is the narrowest door that is NOT frameless.

Medium Range Steel Doors

Steel doors are more substantial than the less expensive aluminum doors. They are heavy duty and rugged and are more customizable because the frames are laser cut.

Legend Elite
Legend Elite Fireplace Door Option #2: Legend Elite Fireplace Glass Door in Brushed Pewter. The frame is made using a 1 1/2" wide angle iron where just the 3/16" thick edge shows around the perimeter and the 1 1/2" sub-frame portion of the angle iron is visible through the glass The angle iron is in flat black. You will see the frame on all 4 sides when the doors are open.

High End Hand Crafted Solid Brass

These doors are hand crafted by skilled artisans from Solid Brass or Steel, depending on the finish that is desired. Very high end, and very refined. Items made from solid brass come in a wide variety of hand crafted patinas and other finishes. Satin Nickel finishes done on solid brass are the finest quality and will not rust like plated steel.

Minimal-1
Minimal-1 Fireplace Door Option #3: Minimal-1 Fireplace Glass Door in Pewter to compliment the andirons with exclusive 3/8" thick clear glass. This door has no frame on the sides, just an angle iron on the top and bottom. This is the most minimal door available.

Mesh & Insulation Options

The Mesh options are behind the glass so you can burn the fire with the doors open and still have spark protection. Great for real wood or gas logs since most gas long manufacturers insist that you have a screen in front of the logs when they are burning. Mesh panel doors are the most popular and are best for when there are toddlers present because they will not open backwards whereas the mesh screens are easily pushed in. Insulation goes between the back of the frame and the fireplace facing, providing a better seal.

Black Mesh Curtains - These slide back and forth on a rod behind the glass
Gate Mesh Doors - These are separate doors behind the glass that have a flat wire mesh and a black frame.
Insulation: Provides a better seal between the fireplace face and the door frame.
