Custom Doors for Large Prefab Fireplace - Project #11171

Custom Fireplace Glass Doors - Project #11171

Customer Comments: Per your website the photos are provided for a mock up of available glass fireplace doors. The preference is a bi-fold door unit (vs. cabinet style for space reasons). However, this is a 20 year old unit with new ceramic logs and I am not looking to spend an exorbitant amount of money. Here are the stats: Architect's 41" Masonry Fireplace by Marco. Original Stock #792870 | Original Model Reference #A41MTR 41” W x 25” H

Our Comments: There are two ways to treat this type of zero clearance fireplace. You can just overlap the opening and leave the black metal showing, or you can cover the entire black metal face with a "Retrim" fireplace door. The Marco fireplace cannot use the typical mounting hardware for most glass doors, so some innovation will need to be used to install the typical doors. The "Retrim" doors simply attach with magnets, so there is not much to the installation.

Note: These mock-ups are not to scale and are meant to help you choose the model of your screen or door, not the finish. Although we may create a general representation of black, iron, bronze, gold and silver tones, you must choose your finish from our samples using the links below. Ask your project manager which samples apply to the items in your project.

Important Note:
About Finishes!

Affordable Aluminum Doors

Aluminum is an excellent material for fireplace doors because it does not rust and can handle high temperatures when treated with powder coated finishes. It is also the most affordable.

Brookfield Fireplace Door Option #1: Design Specialties Brookfield Fireplace Glass Door in Rustic Black. This door may require a combination of wedge fit brackets and masonry mounting hardware.

Medium Range Steel Doors

Steel doors are more substantial than the less expensive aluminum doors. They are heavy duty and rugged and are more customizable because the frames are laser cut.

Legend Fireplace Door Option #2: Design Specialties Legend Fireplace Glass Door in Aztec Gold. This door may require a combination of wedge fit brackets and masonry mounting hardware.

Retrim Doors

These doors made by Hearth Creations are designed to cover the entire black metal face of the fireplace and are easily attached using very strong rare earth magnets

Retrim Fireplace Door Option #4: Hearth Creations Retrim Door. Satin Gold Doors with Antique Red Outer Frame and No Louvers.
Retrim Fireplace Door Option #5: Hearth Creations Retrim Door. All in Bronze Iron with 1518 Louvers.

High End Hand Crafted Solid Brass

These doors are hand crafted by skilled artisans from Solid Brass or Steel, depending on the finish that is desired. Very high end, and very refined. Items made from solid brass come in a wide variety of hand crafted patinas and other finishes. Satin Nickel finishes done on solid brass are the finest quality and will not rust like plated steel.

Mesh & Insulation Options

The Mesh options are behind the glass so you can burn the fire with the doors open and still have spark protection. Great for real wood or gas logs since most gas long manufacturers insist that you have a screen in front of the logs when they are burning. Mesh panel doors are the most popular and are best for when there are toddlers present because they will not open backwards whereas the mesh screens are easily pushed in. Insulation goes between the back of the frame and the fireplace facing, providing a better seal.

Black Mesh Curtains - These slide back and forth on a rod behind the glass
Gate Mesh Doors - These are separate doors behind the glass that have a flat wire mesh and a black frame.
Insulation: Provides a better seal between the fireplace face and the door frame.
