Screen For In The Wall Gas Fireplace - Project #11174

Customer Comments: I've been in Las Vegas for 5 years now and never finished my fireplace. Hoping you can give me some ideas. FP is 43" w x 24" h I think I'm looking for something pretty simple. Since I have only a gas log, I kind of don't want any doors on it at all. Is it possible just to get it framed? Or is it required to have some kind of door on it? I've gone five years now with no issues that I know of about heat or cold, but maybe that's what the doors are for? Thanks for your help.

Our Comments: Here are a few ideas on how to frame your fireplace opening with some sort of screen. There are slots at the bottom of the opening that must not be covered, so we have incorporated slots into any of the designs that attach directly to the fireplace.

Although we may create a general representation of black, iron, bronze, gold and silver tones, you must choose your finish from our samples using the links below. Giraffe Screen
Giraffe Fireplace Screen Option #1: A one-of-a-kind "Spectacular Giraffe Fireplace Screen". This is a design concept I created just for you. This would be made from flat laser cut steel. This is designed to stand in front of the fireplace. The Giraffes are attached to a base and they actually hold up the screen. Shown with matte black based and silver mist powder coat giraffes.
Giraffe Screen
Retrim Screen with Giraffes Option #2: Magnetic Screen with Giraffes. This screen attaches with strong earth magnets. There are slots at the bottom to allow airflow into the fireplace along with a round hole for inserting a long match or lighter. Shown in Champagne powder coat. The frame can be narrower, but we have designed this to hide the black metal inside the fireplace.

Mesh Doors Option #3: Hearth Creations Plain Mesh Doors in Matte Black with Bottom Air Slots.

Mesh Curtain Frame Screens

If you just want a frame around the opening for a finished look, a frame screen may be the ideal solution. The 2" wide frame trims the opening while the mesh curtains help hide some of the black metal on the sides. These can also be made without the mesh curtains as shown in one of the options.

Mesh & Insulation Options

The Mesh options are behind the glass so you can burn the fire with the doors open and still have spark protection. Great for real wood or gas logs since most gas long manufacturers insist that you have a screen in front of the logs when they are burning. Mesh panel doors are the most popular and are best for when there are toddlers present because they will not open backwards whereas the mesh screens are easily pushed in. Insulation goes between the back of the frame and the fireplace facing, providing a better seal.

Black Mesh Curtains - These slide back and forth on a rod behind the glass
Gate Mesh Doors - These are separate doors behind the glass that have a flat wire mesh and a black frame.
Insulation: Provides a better seal between the fireplace face and the door frame.
