Glass Door for Vintage Retro Mosaic Fireplace - Project #11177

Customer Comments: Glass doors to go with my vintage/retro/mosaic design. I will be installing a birch gas log set.

Our Comments: What a beautiful fireplace. Here are some designs that will compliment the design and work with other elements in your room. Because of the irregularities in the tiles, we recommend fitting the doors inside the opening and filling the gap with grout. There is one tile at the bottom left that prevents overlapping the doors. If that tile can be chipped flat, overlapping the opening may be possible. In some of the mockups, we shown your andirons in a Chrome finish. If they are solid brass, we can refinish them to a polished brass or chrome finish to match some of the glass doors that are shown.

Important Note: Gas logs must be burned with glass doors open. We are not able to create mockups showing the doors open execpt for the sliding doors. Mockups shown with the gas logs burning behind the glass are for illustration purposes only. You must open the doors when you burn a gas fire.

Fireplace Opening: 36" W x 30 3/4" H

Note: These mock-ups are not to scale and are meant to help you choose the model of your screen or door, not the finish. Although we may create a general representation of black, iron, bronze, gold and silver tones, you must choose your finish from our samples using the links below. Ask your project manager which samples apply to the items in your project.

Before:

Affordable Aluminum Doors

Aluminum is an excellent material for fireplace doors because it does not rust and can handle high temperatures when treated with powder coated finishes. It is also the most affordable.

Medium Range Steel Doors

Steel doors are more substantial than the less expensive aluminum doors. They are heavy duty and rugged and are more customizable because the frames are laser cut.

High End Hand Crafted Solid Brass

These doors are hand crafted by skilled artisans from Solid Brass or Steel, depending on the finish that is desired. Very high end, and very refined. Items made from solid brass come in a wide variety of hand crafted patinas and other finishes. Satin Nickel finishes done on solid brass are the finest quality and will not rust like plated steel.

Mesh & Insulation Options

The Mesh options are behind the glass so you can burn the fire with the doors open and still have spark protection. Great for real wood or gas logs since most gas long manufacturers insist that you have a screen in front of the logs when they are burning. Mesh panel doors are the most popular and are best for when there are toddlers present because they will not open backwards whereas the mesh screens are easily pushed in. Insulation goes between the back of the frame and the fireplace facing, providing a better seal.

Black Mesh Curtains - These slide back and forth on a rod behind the glass
Gate Mesh Doors - These are separate doors behind the glass that have a flat wire mesh and a black frame.
Insulation: Provides a better seal between the fireplace face and the door frame.
