Our Comments: There are several ways to add a screen to an outdoor fireplace raised in the wall like yours. Each of these options are made from materials designed to withstand the elements.

Glass Doors
Glass doors are great for outdoor fireplaces because they allow you to burn a fire when it is breezy without the smoke and ashes blowing around. Just close the doors when it gets windy and open them when it is calm.
Option #1: Stiletto Fireplace Glass Door with Single Gate Mesh Backup Door. This door would be ordered with outdoor stainless steel hardware in a powder coat finish.
Option #1B: Brookfield Fireplace Glass Door in Vintage Iron with Stainless Steel Outdoor Hardware and Stainless Steel Twin Gate Mesh Backup Doors (in black powder coat).
Option #1C: Brookfield Mesh Fireplace Door in Vintage Iron with Stainless Steel Outdoor Hardware.
Mesh Doors
Mesh doors are the next best thing to glass doors. These are made from stainless steel with a powder coat finish.
Free Standing Screens
Option #3: C92-F92 Wrought Iron Bar and Mesh with Bottom Bar. Made from Zinc Coated Wrought Iron and Stainless Steel Mesh Painted Black. The bottom bar helps prevent logs from rolling out of the fireplace and keeps cats and other critters out as well (when used with bottom pet deterrent channel).
Option #4: C92 Bar and Mesh Without Bottom Bar. Made from Solid Brass Painted Black with Stainless Steel Mesh Painted Black.

Mesh & Insulation Options
The Mesh options are behind the glass so you can burn the fire with the doors open and still have spark protection. Great for real wood or gas logs since most gas long manufacturers insist that you have a screen in front of the logs when they are burning. Mesh panel doors are the most popular and are best for when there are toddlers present because they will not open backwards whereas the mesh screens are easily pushed in. Insulation goes between the back of the frame and the fireplace facing, providing a better seal.
Black Mesh Curtains - These slide back and forth on a rod behind the glass
Gate Mesh Doors - These are separate doors behind the glass that have a flat wire mesh and a black frame.
Insulation: Provides a better seal between the fireplace face and the door frame.
