Arched Glass Doors for Prefab Fireplace - Project #11224
Customer Comments: We are looking for: Flat black, glass doors, Arch top, Simple, no frills. The stone opening is 41" wide x 32 1/4" high . Stone around fireplace is 1 1/2" thick. It is a wood burning fireplace.
Our Comments: Some glass doors can be made to overlap the stone while others must mount directly to the black metal facing. Those that mount to the facing must have the arch opening made smaller than the actual fireplace opening. Those that can overlap the stone have more flexibility as to how the arch can be made. We have created several mockups to illustrate these differences.
Fireplace Opening: 41" W x 32 1/4" H (stone opening)
Note: These mock-ups are not to scale and are meant to help you choose the model of your screen or door, not the finish. Although we may create a general representation of black, iron, bronze, gold and silver tones, you must choose your finish from our samples using the links below. Ask your project manager which samples apply to the items in your project.

These doors have solid steel frame that must either fit inside the metal fireplace opening or mount flat against it. They can be made to cover all of the black metal or just about 1" around the opening. In such cases, the arched part of the doors must be made smaller than the metal opening, which will shrink the viewing area. The advantage is that these doors can be burned closed.

Hearth Creations
Doors made by Hearth Creations can overlap the stone, fit inside the stone with a little space in front of the metal fireplace, or fit flush against the fireplace. Overlap fitting doors as shown in Option #3 and Option #4 are made with 1/4" spacers on the back of the frame to allow airflow into the fireplace in order to prevent overheating. Doors that fit inside the stone, like Option #5, attach to the metal fireplace with super strong magnets. The frame is 3/4" deep with air slots on the top and sides of the 3/4" return and must be made with a minimum 1/4" gap between the frame and the stones to allow airflow into slots on the sides of the frame. Because all of these options are made larger than the actual metal fireplace opening, we recommend using gray glass with perforated mesh backup doors to better hide the metal fireplace opening.

Mesh & Insulation Options
The Mesh options are behind the glass so you can burn the fire with the doors open and still have spark protection. Great for real wood or gas logs since most gas long manufacturers insist that you have a screen in front of the logs when they are burning. Mesh panel doors are the most popular and are best for when there are toddlers present because they will not open backwards whereas the mesh screens are easily pushed in. Insulation goes between the back of the frame and the fireplace facing, providing a better seal.
