Stainless Steel Mantel and Screen for Outdoor Fireplace with TV - Project #11235
Customer Comments: Hello, we are interested in getting a non combustible mantel for our outdoor fireplace. Our white brick fireplace is 62" wide and there is 11" between the top of the fireplace opening and the bottom of the TV, which is 38" wide across at the bottom of the TV. We would like the mantel to match as close as possible to the dark gray granite that you see at the bottom of the fireplace. Looking at your finishes, which finish do you think would match the best? Thank you.
Our Comments: We recommend Stainless Steel with a Natural Iron Powder Coat Finish for this application. Stainless steel is quote a bit more expensive, but it will better resist corrosion and last many more years than the standard steel mantels that are used indoors. We would include a special high temperature ceramic blanket insulation inside the mantel to better protect the TV from heat. Without the ceramic, the heat will simply transfer right through the steel mantel. We also recommend adding a glass door or flat fireplace screen to prevent critters from getting into the fireplace and using it as a litter box...(yes, this is common in outdoor fireplaces).

Note: These mock-ups are not to scale and are meant to help you choose the model of your screen or door, not the finish. Although we may create a general representation of black, iron, bronze, gold and silver tones, you must choose your finish from our samples using the links below. Ask your project manager which samples apply to the items in your project.

Stainless Steel Mantel
This mantel can be custom made to whatever width and height you want. We recommend making it 60" Wide x 3" Tall x 8" Deep. We would also include a special ceramic insulation, which drastically reduces the heat at top surface of the mantel, better protecting your TV.

Mesh & Insulation Options
The Mesh options are behind the glass so you can burn the fire with the doors open and still have spark protection. Great for real wood or gas logs since most gas long manufacturers insist that you have a screen in front of the logs when they are burning. Mesh panel doors are the most popular and are best for when there are toddlers present because they will not open backwards whereas the mesh screens are easily pushed in. Insulation goes between the back of the frame and the fireplace facing, providing a better seal.
