Glass Doors for Corner Fireplace with Overhang - Project #11240
Customer Comments: Hello I'm interested in a glass/metal enclosed design for my fireplace. I just bought my house. Right now it's just mesh screen covering the opening and I have curious cats that like to poke around. I want to make sure they don't get in there. I have to tape cardboard over the opening and can't use the fireplace. Pictures attached. I'm not sure where to measure. The whole opening it's self or where the tile stops?
Our Comments: Below are examples of glass doors that can be made either way, to cover the area just in front of the fireplace or the entire L-Shaped area. Some of the doors must be made to fit entirely inside the opening. In such cases, we will make them about 1/8" shorter than the smallest height. That gap can be filled with grout. Other options can overlap the front and fit inside under the ledge or overlap the entire opening. Doors that overlap the left side will slightly overhang the hearth by the thickness of the door frame. Once we have determined which type of fit you like best, we will be able to provide measuring instructions and quote prices.

Although we may create a general representation of black, iron, bronze, gold and silver tones, you must choose your finish from our samples using the links below. Ask your project manager which samples apply to the items in your project.

Affordable Aluminum Doors
Aluminum is an excellent material for fireplace doors because it does not rust and can handle high temperatures when treated with powder coated finishes. It is also the most affordable.

Medium Range Steel Doors
Steel doors are more substantial than the less expensive aluminum doors. They are heavy duty and rugged and are more customizable because the frames are laser cut.

High End Hand Crafted Sliding Doors
The front side of the door has 2 fixed panes of glass on the right and left sides and 2 sliding panes in the center. Sliding doors are great for corner fireplaces like this where you do not want the doors hanging out when they are open. The door can be made with an all glass corner or framed corner. The manufacturer is best known for their use of very high end solid brass, which is available in a wide variety of distinctive casting trims and designer finishes as shown lower on this page.

Solid Brass Castings
Use your imagination to create the perfect fireplace screen with these solid brass castings from Stone Manufacturing. Compliment architectural details in the mantel or other furnishings in our home, or simply create your own unique look. Available in a wide variety of finishes.

Mesh & Insulation Options
The Mesh options are behind the glass so you can burn the fire with the doors open and still have spark protection. Great for real wood or gas logs since most gas long manufacturers insist that you have a screen in front of the logs when they are burning. Mesh panel doors are the most popular and are best for when there are toddlers present because they will not open backwards whereas the mesh screens are easily pushed in. Insulation goes between the back of the frame and the fireplace facing, providing a better seal.
