Mesh Curtains with Pet Deterrent Channel for Black Brick Fireplace - Project #11263

Customer Comments: Sir or Madam, I am requesting quotes for a custom sized, recessed, sliding mesh, fire place screen. I am interested in a Bar & Mesh recessed screen C92 w/manual pulls (#700) and a C92 Bar & Mesh recessed w/side pulls (700B). Material/finish: Mat black steel. I would also like a Pet Deterrent Channel across the bottom. My Fire place opening is: 47-3/4 inches wide x 29-1/4 inches tall – masonry floor to lintel. The lintel is 3 inches wide. The granite hearth sets 1 inch above the fireplace masonry floor. I have attached 7 photos for your reference. Can you send me a design mock-up of the above designs superimposed over my photo and a diagram of the pet deterrent. Thank you.

Our Comments: The Pet Deterrent Channel is a slot attached to the backside of the bottom bar where the mesh fits into helping prevent the mesh from being pushed inwards. We will get a diagram or photo of this for you from the manufacturer. The F92 bottom bar will sit inside the fireplace flush against the back edge of the granite hearth. The C92 and F92 standard size is 2" wide barstock. Because the inside of the fireplace drops 1" below the granite, the standard F92 will have a 1" reveal as we have shown in the first mockup. All of the other mockups show a custom 3" wide bottom bar which will allow the top and bottom bar to both have a 2" reveal. We do not recommend side pulls for openings larger than 40". Although it will work, it is more difficult to open and close due to the weight of the mesh and the length to which you must pull the chains up and down. It also has a higher potential for failure after several decades.

Fireplace Opening: 47 3/4" W x 29 1/4" H

Note: These mock-ups are not to scale and are meant to help you choose the model of your screen or door, not the finish. Although we may create a general representation of black, iron, bronze, gold and silver tones, you must choose your finish from our samples using the links below. Ask your project manager which samples apply to the items in your project.

Mesh & Insulation Options

The Mesh options are behind the glass so you can burn the fire with the doors open and still have spark protection. Great for real wood or gas logs since most gas long manufacturers insist that you have a screen in front of the logs when they are burning. Mesh panel doors are the most popular and are best for when there are toddlers present because they will not open backwards whereas the mesh screens are easily pushed in. Insulation goes between the back of the frame and the fireplace facing, providing a better seal.

Black Mesh Curtains - These slide back and forth on a rod behind the glass
Gate Mesh Doors - These are separate doors behind the glass that have a flat wire mesh and a black frame.
Insulation: Provides a better seal between the fireplace face and the door frame.
