Glass Doors for Outdoor ZC Brick Fireplace - Project #11287

Customer Comments: I have an outdoor (on back porch) fireplace. The opening dimensions are: 37-1/2"w x 19-1/2"h. Photos attached.

Our Comments: If you wish to burn a fire with the doors closed, you must have doors that are mounted either inside the black metal opening or overlapping the black metal. In your case, the brick has been laid in such a manner that it is not possible to mount doors properly inside, although there is the option for mounting them overlapping the black metal sides. The Legend door below is the only model you can burn with the doors closed. The other options that overlap the brick must be burned open.

Fireplace Opening: 37 1/2" W x 19 1/2" H

Note: These mock-ups are not to scale and are meant to help you choose the model of your screen or door, not the finish. Although we may create a general representation of black, iron, bronze, gold and silver tones, you must choose your finish from our samples using the links below. Ask your project manager which samples apply to the items in your project.

Affordable Aluminum Doors

Aluminum is an excellent material for fireplace doors because it does not rust and can handle high temperatures when treated with powder coated finishes. It is also the most affordable.

Profile 1
Profile 1 Fireplace Door Option #1: Hearth Creations Profile 1 Fireplace Glass Door in Matte Black. This door only overlaps the bricks 1/4" on each side, which does not allow much room for variation in the bricks, so there may be small gaps around the frame. It is has a very narrow appearance, but what is hard to tell in the mockup is the shape of the frame is angular and projects out about 1 1/2". We included a picture taken from an angle below that better illustrates that. The mounting hardware included is not designed to mount in this type of application, so some ingenuity will be required to get it installed, but it can be done. This door must be burned open.
Profile 2
Profile 2 Fireplace Door Option #2: Hearth Creations Profile 2 Fireplace Glass Door in Matte Black. This door has a wider frame with a 3/4" projection with a subframe that extends back into the opening 3/4" deep. This will require the same type of installation as described in Option #1. This door must be burned open.

High End Steel Doors

These doors are made from 3/16" stainless steel and then painted black for better longevity outdoors.

Mesh & Insulation Options

The Mesh options are behind the glass so you can burn the fire with the doors open and still have spark protection. Great for real wood or gas logs since most gas long manufacturers insist that you have a screen in front of the logs when they are burning. Mesh panel doors are the most popular and are best for when there are toddlers present because they will not open backwards whereas the mesh screens are easily pushed in. Insulation goes between the back of the frame and the fireplace facing, providing a better seal.

Black Mesh Curtains - These slide back and forth on a rod behind the glass
Gate Mesh Doors - These are separate doors behind the glass that have a flat wire mesh and a black frame.
Insulation: Provides a better seal between the fireplace face and the door frame.
