Glass Doors and Gas Ornaments for Orange Marble Fireplace - Project #11288

Customer Comments: We are considering two options:

Option 1: Keep current marble. Keep existing opening. Paint inside of fireplace satin or mat black.Use blue glass and one of those silver looking metal sculptures like in your pictures. Add one of your glass and metal doors.

Option 2: Replace existing marble with quartz. Reduce height of opening ( maybe to 18" ) and keep width, centering opening vertically in the quartz. Paint inside of fireplace satin or mat black. Use blue glass. Add single glass door.

We are open to other suggestions. Thanks

Our Comments: We have created mockups for your first option. Regarding your second option: You cannot use a single glass door on a fireplace this wide, it will shatter. Also, you cannot burn gas logs or the glass crystals with the doors closed in either of your scenarios, which I assume was your intent. The burner system and pilot that you have are designed to be burned with the doors open to prevent them from overheating and melting. Based on your description, it sounds like you are trying to achieve the look of a linear gas fireplace. Those are factory built metal fireplaces with special air-cooled venting systems that keep the glass in a safe range. The burners and controls are in an insulated metal cavity underneath the fireplace to keep them cool as well.

Fireplace Opening: 47 7/8" W x 32 1/8" H

Note: These mock-ups are not to scale and are meant to help you choose the model of your screen or door, not the finish. Although we may create a general representation of black, iron, bronze, gold and silver tones, you must choose your finish from our samples using the links below. Ask your project manager which samples apply to the items in your project.

Affordable Aluminum Doors

Aluminum is an excellent material for fireplace doors because it does not rust and can handle high temperatures when treated with powder coated finishes. It is also the most affordable.

Mesh & Insulation Options

The Mesh options are behind the glass so you can burn the fire with the doors open and still have spark protection. Great for real wood or gas logs since most gas long manufacturers insist that you have a screen in front of the logs when they are burning. Mesh panel doors are the most popular and are best for when there are toddlers present because they will not open backwards whereas the mesh screens are easily pushed in. Insulation goes between the back of the frame and the fireplace facing, providing a better seal.

Black Mesh Curtains - These slide back and forth on a rod behind the glass
Gate Mesh Doors - These are separate doors behind the glass that have a flat wire mesh and a black frame.
Insulation: Provides a better seal between the fireplace face and the door frame.
