Glass Doors for Linear Style Fireplace - Project #11298

Customer Comments: Hello! I am looking for help creating some sort of custom doors for my fireplace. The size is a little unusual at 58 inches by 23 inches. It is a gas fireplace, with no logs (just a little rectangle of fire coming up through some shiny rocks). We are getting ready to remodel our house, and would love to fix up the fireplace as well. We will be keeping the same firebox, but replacing the surround. I would love a clean, modern looking set of doors with black trim. Your first example for large fireplaces is exactly what I am looking for. The one called Brookfield Fireplace Doors. I would also be interested in gas logs as well, if that is an option. Thanks so much.

Our Comments: We created a mockup of the Brookfield along with some other doors you may wish to consider. Gas logs may be a bit too tall for a fireplace with your proportion, so we have included a couple examples of modern metal sculptures that are quite appropriate for linear fireplaces. We also included a couple other finishes besides black. Hope this helps.

Fireplace Opening: 58" W x 23" H

Note: These mock-ups are not to scale and are meant to help you choose the model of your screen or door, not the finish. Although we may create a general representation of black, iron, bronze, gold and silver tones, you must choose your finish from our samples using the links below. Ask your project manager which samples apply to the items in your project.

Affordable Aluminum Doors

Aluminum is an excellent material for fireplace doors because it does not rust and can handle high temperatures when treated with powder coated finishes. It is also the most affordable.

Medium Range Steel Doors

Steel doors are more substantial than the less expensive aluminum doors. They are heavy duty and rugged and are more customizable because the frames are laser cut.

High End Hand Crafted Solid Brass

These doors are hand crafted by skilled artisans from Solid Brass or Steel, depending on the finish that is desired. Very high end, and very refined. Items made from solid brass come in a wide variety of hand crafted patinas and other finishes. Satin Nickel finishes done on solid brass are the finest quality and will not rust like plated steel.

Mesh & Insulation Options

The Mesh options are behind the glass so you can burn the fire with the doors open and still have spark protection. Great for real wood or gas logs since most gas long manufacturers insist that you have a screen in front of the logs when they are burning. Mesh panel doors are the most popular and are best for when there are toddlers present because they will not open backwards whereas the mesh screens are easily pushed in. Insulation goes between the back of the frame and the fireplace facing, providing a better seal.

Black Mesh Curtains - These slide back and forth on a rod behind the glass
Gate Mesh Doors - These are separate doors behind the glass that have a flat wire mesh and a black frame.
Insulation: Provides a better seal between the fireplace face and the door frame.
