Free Standing Glass Screens for Fireplace Raised in Wall - Project #11303

Customer Comments: Hi. My fireplace has no hearth. I cannot find a screen to work with it. I'd like a single glass screen to use with a brass frame. The opening of the fireplace is 42 in wide by 30 in tall. The floor to top of opening is 41 inches. Please advise. Thanks

Our Comments: Here are examples of glass screens made from various materials in gold or brass finishes.

Fireplace Opening: 42" W x 30" H x 41 H (from floor)

Although we may create a general representation of black, iron, bronze, gold and silver tones, you must choose your finish from our samples using the links below. Free Standing Glass Screens

Free standing glass screens like these must stand at least 8" in front of the fire when the gas is on and cannot be used for real wood. The legs may need to be slightly bigger than shown for added stability due to the height of the glass. The manufacturer will determine what is required. The other options have very heavy solid brass feet that will handle the weight.

Mesh & Insulation Options

The Mesh options are behind the glass so you can burn the fire with the doors open and still have spark protection. Great for real wood or gas logs since most gas long manufacturers insist that you have a screen in front of the logs when they are burning. Mesh panel doors are the most popular and are best for when there are toddlers present because they will not open backwards whereas the mesh screens are easily pushed in. Insulation goes between the back of the frame and the fireplace facing, providing a better seal.

Black Mesh Curtains - These slide back and forth on a rod behind the glass
Gate Mesh Doors - These are separate doors behind the glass that have a flat wire mesh and a black frame.
Insulation: Provides a better seal between the fireplace face and the door frame.
