Glass Doors for Corner Stone Fireplace - Project #11340

Customer Comments: Hi, I am looking for a custom L shaped screen with doors or glass doors to protect our house when using the fireplace. Please see photos and measurements below. Thank you.

Our Comments: You are somewhat limited with the doors you can intall on this fireplace due to the raised brick on the left side and the scroll piece at the corner. The Stiletto door from Design Specialties is the best solution since it can be made to fit inside the fireplace with a 1" projection past the opening and still clear the corner scroll. It is also the least expensive custom door for a corner fireplace. It would be made to butt against the left and right sides and fit under the lintel. We can make it fit somewhat tight on the sides, but would recommend leaving a 1/4" gap at the top to ensure it fits under any irregularities. You can fill the gap with mortar. There are others that are less ideal which we can discuss further over the phone if need be.

Fireplace Opening: 42 1/2" W (left) x 24" W (right) x 30 5/8" H

Although we may create a general representation of black, iron, bronze, gold and silver tones, you must choose your finish from our samples using the links below. Ask your project manager which samples apply to the items in your project.

Affordable Aluminum Doors

Aluminum is an excellent material for fireplace doors because it does not rust and can handle high temperatures when treated with powder coated finishes. It is also the most affordable.

Mesh & Insulation Options

The Mesh options are behind the glass so you can burn the fire with the doors open and still have spark protection. Great for real wood or gas logs since most gas long manufacturers insist that you have a screen in front of the logs when they are burning. Mesh panel doors are the most popular and are best for when there are toddlers present because they will not open backwards whereas the mesh screens are easily pushed in. Insulation goes between the back of the frame and the fireplace facing, providing a better seal.

Black Mesh Curtains - These slide back and forth on a rod behind the glass
Gate Mesh Doors - These are separate doors behind the glass that have a flat wire mesh and a black frame.
Insulation: Provides a better seal between the fireplace face and the door frame.
