Glass Doors for Prefab Fireplace with Vents - Project #11397
Customer Comments: My goal is to hopefully save money from buying a new wood burning fireplace. I am looking for a simple two panel or four panel door that forms to my fireplace and functions. Matching to an exact style is the least of my interests. At the minimum, doors with a grey frame may very well be perfect. Just something to allow me to use my wood burning fireplace and protect my home.
Our Comments: There are several ways to treat your fireplace. In any case, the doors must be designed properly to allow air to flow into the metal fireplace to prevent it from overheating. In some cases you MUST burn the fire with the doors open, while others can be closed. In all cases, you can close the doors temporarily to help start the fire quickly, open the doors when the fire gets going and the close the doors as the fire is dying out to keep the warm air inside your home. Please read the comments about each type of door below.

Mesh & Insulation Options
The Mesh options are behind the glass so you can burn the fire with the doors open and still have spark protection. Great for real wood or gas logs since most gas long manufacturers insist that you have a screen in front of the logs when they are burning. Mesh panel doors are the most popular and are best for when there are toddlers present because they will not open backwards whereas the mesh screens are easily pushed in. Insulation goes between the back of the frame and the fireplace facing, providing a better seal.
