Glass Doors for Wide Angle Corner Fireplace - Project #11401

Customer Comments: I'm interested in a two door glass in closure.

Our Comments: We recommend adding a row of bricks inside the fireplace to provide a surface on which the return side of the door to can sit. We also recommend using sliding doors in this application so the doors do not project into the room or doorway when open. After discussing the budget, we undersatand the sliding doors may not be possible, so we have included the Brookfield doors, which are the least expensive doors that we can have made for this application. The mesh curtain rod stands about 3" back from the front of the door frame, which will leave a space on the left side without mesh coverage.

Fireplace Opening: 48" W (front) x 23" W (right) x 23" H x 4" Drop (inside)

About Finishes!

Affordable Aluminum Doors

Aluminum is an excellent material for fireplace doors because it does not rust and can handle high temperatures when treated with powder coated finishes. It is also the most affordable.

On the main side, the two outer panes of glass are fixed while the two inner panes slide left and right to open and close. The right side return would be a fixed pane.

Mesh & Insulation Options

The Mesh options are behind the glass so you can burn the fire with the doors open and still have spark protection. Great for real wood or gas logs since most gas long manufacturers insist that you have a screen in front of the logs when they are burning. Mesh panel doors are the most popular and are best for when there are toddlers present because they will not open backwards whereas the mesh screens are easily pushed in. Insulation goes between the back of the frame and the fireplace facing, providing a better seal.

Black Mesh Curtains - These slide back and forth on a rod behind the glass
Gate Mesh Doors - These are separate doors behind the glass that have a flat wire mesh and a black frame.
Insulation: Provides a better seal between the fireplace face and the door frame.
