Before
Before:

These screens are hand forged by skilled artisans from Stone Manufacturing. What's most important for authenticity are the accessories since screens were rarely used in the 15th century. The Andirons and grate were the main functional accessories that prevented logs from rolling into the room and kept the fire at bay. Wrought iron fireplace tools and wood holders were also essential functional components during that period, so we have included all of these in the mockups.

Featured Accessories: WI-AN-BASKET 33" Tall Custom Basket Wrought Iron Andirons, WI-T5 Seville Wrought Iron Fireplace Tools, WI-GRATE Custom Wrought Iron Grate with Curled Bars and Feet, WI-WB1 Wrought Iron Wood Holder.

Customer Comments:

Our house is custom designed and built by us in the 14th Century Medieval Manor style designed based directly on Cothay Manor

It has a Rumford fireplace so requires specific airflow, so we need a screen, not glass.

The fireplace opening is 58" wide and 47 " tall. At 8" from the edge, the fireplace is 14" deep (position where structural legs could go)

Overall dimensions should be 62" wide and 48" tall

Not sure if the screen should be flat, bowed, or have 3 panels with short lateral panels (6" to max 8"). Would like to see your design ideas.

The home decor is consistent with the style of the construction. All of the hardware in the house is custom hammered bronze.

We would like to have the screen "made by a skilled blacksmith with layered materials to create a 3 dimensional pattern...despite the fact that there...is a huge difference in price" I am going to send another email with examples from your website of designs that contain some of the elements that we like, as well as an email with representative decor of the house.

Looking forward to your ideas!

Mesh & Insulation Options

The Mesh options are behind the glass so you can burn the fire with the doors open and still have spark protection. Great for real wood or gas logs since most gas long manufacturers insist that you have a screen in front of the logs when they are burning. Mesh panel doors are the most popular and are best for when there are toddlers present because they will not open backwards whereas the mesh screens are easily pushed in. Insulation goes between the back of the frame and the fireplace facing, providing a better seal.

Black Mesh Curtains - These slide back and forth on a rod behind the glass
Gate Mesh Doors - These are separate doors behind the glass that have a flat wire mesh and a black frame.
Insulation: Provides a better seal between the fireplace face and the door frame.
