Comments
I need a custom door. I am in San Diego County, California. This is a 1950 Hacienda style adobe house with central courtyard with fountain. Lots of Mexican tile thought the house and all Saltillo floors. The hearth is Saltillo, and the structure of the fireflace is adobe. The firebox is a steel insert with vents coming out the front and sides of the adobe. It even has one of those swinging arms so you hang your cooking pot over the fire. The grate inside is 3/4 inch steel and 4 feet long. A real beast to lift! I enclose pictures of the room and massive heavy front door. The fireplace front is flat and easy to bolt door frame to front thru the tile. The existing screen still moves by hand but does not move with the draw chain (it is 70 years old!). The opening measures 70" wide. Tile is slightly off, so right side height is 28 3/4", left side 28 7/8". I assume that at this width it may require fixed panels on the sides. Looking for a rugged look that matches the Mexican/Spanish style, steel or iron depending on cost. Some of the styles that looked interesting are Armada, Hearth Creations Iron Age 64, and Design Specialties Craftsman. Give me a call and let's discuss. Thanks!

Mesh & Insulation Options
The Mesh options are behind the glass so you can burn the fire with the doors open and still have spark protection. Great for real wood or gas logs since most gas long manufacturers insist that you have a screen in front of the logs when they are burning. Mesh panel doors are the most popular and are best for when there are toddlers present because they will not open backwards whereas the mesh screens are easily pushed in. Insulation goes between the back of the frame and the fireplace facing, providing a better seal.
