Customer Comments: Hi Erik-We spoke on the phone today. Here are the pics of what I am looking for. I need to replace my fireplace and screen and I would love to match it as closely as possible to the historic one above. I think I am most interested in the upper bar being unfinished brass or unfinished steel. What do you think the original material is in the pic? I really like materials that patina naturally over time. I wonder if you have actual pics rather than renderings of the hammered metal. The fireplace attached with no screen is my fireplace. The screen example is another fireplace in my same complex with the correct historic screen. Hammered steel, Oil rubbed steel. Is it possible to have unfinished brass with the hammered texture?
Our Comments: Steel would most likely rust rather than take on a natural patina. Components like this are best made from unfinished solid brass if you want it to develop a rich natural patina. We can make the items featured below from unlacquered solid brass in a polished finish, or they can have an Olde English patina applied to them that will also evolve over time. The Olde English finish will start out closer to the original pictures you sent whereas polished brass can take many years to develop a dark patina.

Mesh & Insulation Options
The Mesh options are behind the glass so you can burn the fire with the doors open and still have spark protection. Great for real wood or gas logs since most gas long manufacturers insist that you have a screen in front of the logs when they are burning. Mesh panel doors are the most popular and are best for when there are toddlers present because they will not open backwards whereas the mesh screens are easily pushed in. Insulation goes between the back of the frame and the fireplace facing, providing a better seal.
Black Mesh Curtains - These slide back and forth on a rod behind the glass
Gate Mesh Doors - These are separate doors behind the glass that have a flat wire mesh and a black frame.
Insulation: Provides a better seal between the fireplace face and the door frame.
