Glass Doors for Granite Fireplace - Project #11507
Customer Comments: We need help figuring out some fireplace glass door installation options. We like a bronze color or even a Toffee color. We like the bifold doors and chain link doors. We have granite and would like the first choice to have it sit inside of the granite area without overlap. Second choice with the most minimal overlap. I have some concerns about the way it will mount as the granite was added after onto a brick faced fireplace. At the top of the opening, the granite comes down by 5 1/4 from the metal "lental" on the inside (see pictures). Thanks for your help.

Affordable Aluminum Doors
Aluminum is an excellent material for fireplace doors because it does not rust and can handle high temperatures when treated with powder coated finishes. It is also the most affordable.
Medium Range Steel Doors
Steel doors are more substantial than the less expensive aluminum doors. They are heavy duty and rugged and are more customizable because the frames are laser cut.
High End Hand Crafted Solid Brass
These doors are hand crafted by skilled artisans from Solid Brass or Steel, depending on the finish that is desired. Very high end, and very refined. Items made from solid brass come in a wide variety of hand crafted patinas and other finishes. Satin Nickel finishes done on solid brass are the finest quality and will not rust like plated steel.
Option #4: Stone Manufacturing DF1G-33 Solid Brass Fireplace Doors with Burnt Sienna Frame and Weather Brass Rope Casting Door Trim. Shown with Gray Glass.
Option #5: Stone Manufacturing HYBRID-2 Bifold Fireplace Glass Door in Weathered Brass. This door has an angle iron on the top and bottom that fits inside the fireplace to hold the hardware. There is no frame on the sides.

Mesh & Insulation Options
The Mesh options are behind the glass so you can burn the fire with the doors open and still have spark protection. Great for real wood or gas logs since most gas long manufacturers insist that you have a screen in front of the logs when they are burning. Mesh panel doors are the most popular and are best for when there are toddlers present because they will not open backwards whereas the mesh screens are easily pushed in. Insulation goes between the back of the frame and the fireplace facing, providing a better seal.
Black Mesh Curtains - These slide back and forth on a rod behind the glass
Gate Mesh Doors - These are separate doors behind the glass that have a flat wire mesh and a black frame.
Insulation: Provides a better seal between the fireplace face and the door frame.
