Glass Doors for Zero Clearance Fireplace with Stacked Stone - Project 11526

Customer Comments: Hi, requesting some design support for this fireplace opening (see pictures). I purchased a custom door years ago from you all and had great luck (previous house) and hoping for something that can work for this smaller fireplace. Would like to stick to a rustic black with glass doors for closure. This existing opening has a screen which we are not fond of so curious about what can be done with that. Also, this fireplace is wood burning (not gas), and because of its small opening size want to frame it smaller to not make the opening appear smaller with the new door. Let me know any other questions you may have or the information required! Appreciate it!

Our Comments: Here are some mockups of doors that can be made to fit your fireplace. The outside fitting doors will completely change the proportion of the fireplace and make it look larger. Doors fitting outside require 1/4" spacers on the back side of the frame to allow proper airflow into the fireplace and must be burned with the doors open. We recommend gate mesh backup doors behind the glass to replace your existing mesh curtains so you can burn safely with the doors open.

Fireplace Opening: 38" W x 20 7/8" H

Note: These mock-ups are not to scale and are meant to help you choose the model of your screen or door, not the finish. Although we may create a general representation of black, iron, bronze, gold and silver tones, you must choose your finish from our samples using the links below. Ask your project manager which samples apply to the items in your project.

Mesh & Insulation Options

The Mesh options are behind the glass so you can burn the fire with the doors open and still have spark protection. Great for real wood or gas logs since most gas long manufacturers insist that you have a screen in front of the logs when they are burning. Mesh panel doors are the most popular and are best for when there are toddlers present because they will not open backwards whereas the mesh screens are easily pushed in. Insulation goes between the back of the frame and the fireplace facing, providing a better seal.

Black Mesh Curtains - These slide back and forth on a rod behind the glass
Gate Mesh Doors - These are separate doors behind the glass that have a flat wire mesh and a black frame.
Insulation: Provides a better seal between the fireplace face and the door frame.
