ZC Fireplace Doors for Clean Face Prefab Fireplaces

Our Comments: This project illustrates the main types of fireplace doors that can be made for most clean face prefabricated fireplaces. There are many design options for each of these doors, but this illustrates how they are designed to fit.

Note: These mock-ups are not to scale and are meant to help you choose the model of your screen or door, not the finish. Although we may create a general representation of black, iron, bronze, gold and silver tones, you must choose your finish from our samples using the links below. Ask your project manager which samples apply to the items in your project.

Other Options

These options can certainly be used instead of glass doors, but if you want the functionality that glass doors provide by reducing draft, yet do not like the way the look, you can always hide the entire black metal fireplace with a nice looking decorative screen. These are best used when choosing Options #1 and #2 above, which are the least expensive custom fireplace doors for prefab fireplaces.

Frame Screen
Free Standing Sliding Mesh Fireplace Screen Option #5: CFR85-48 Free Standing Sliding Mesh Fireplace Screen with Floral Casting Trim and Claw Legs in Antique Silver with Matching Mesh. Silver or chrome mesh curtains do a great job of hiding the fireplace because they reflect light. A fine woven mesh curtain in black will do a decent job as well. You can open the sliding mesh without moving the screen out of the way in order to open the fireplace doors when you wish to use the fireplace.
Spark Arrestor
Solid Brass Fireplace Spark Arrestor Option #5: 1P20M Spark Arrestor with Egg & Dot Casting Trim and Double Weave Mesh shown with AR-AN16 Marseilles Antique Recreation Andirons in Statuary Bronze. The double weave mesh is harder to see through than typical mesh. If the glass doors are made in a black finish, the entire fireplace will be well disguised. A fine woven mesh curtain in black will do a decent job as well. This is a less convenient option because the spark arrestor has to be moved out of the way to use the fireplace. But for those who rarely use the fireplace, it is not such an issue.

Mesh & Insulation Options

The Mesh options are behind the glass so you can burn the fire with the doors open and still have spark protection. Great for real wood or gas logs since most gas long manufacturers insist that you have a screen in front of the logs when they are burning. Mesh panel doors are the most popular and are best for when there are toddlers present because they will not open backwards whereas the mesh screens are easily pushed in. Insulation goes between the back of the frame and the fireplace facing, providing a better seal.

Black Mesh Curtains - These slide back and forth on a rod behind the glass
Gate Mesh Doors - These are separate doors behind the glass that have a flat wire mesh and a black frame.
Insulation: Provides a better seal between the fireplace face and the door frame.
