Attaching Your Screen: Free standing screens with doors will stand on their own, but can become unstable in larger sizes when the doors are opened. If this is the case, you will want to find some way to secure the screen to your fireplace. Each Hearth Creations screen comes rear feet that can be bolted to the hearth and long screws designed to clamp to the lintel. Every fireplace is different, so this generic hardware may not work or will require some ingenuity and/or modifications to make it work. If you cannot figure out a way to get your screen attached, let us know and well help you come up with something.
Sizing: If you want secure the screen to your fireplace, we recommend having it made with at least a 2" wide frame instead of the standard 1.5" frames. This allows you to overlap 1” on the sides and 1/2" on the top allowing clearance for the lintel clamps. We will need to know the width and height of your opening as well as the height to the bottom of the lintel so we can adjust the frame width and overall height accordingly.

Design Specialties specializes in laser cut steel screen doors. You can have a fireplace screen custom made with your own logo, monogram or pattern. Screens are quoted on a case by case basis.
Design Specialties does not offer mounting hardware for their screens. Instead, they only make screens where the doors are 40" W x 30" H or less, which will remain stable when the doors are open. For larger fireplaces, they make the screen with fixed panels and doors that are under the maximum size (see #56 below). For larger fireplaces, you may want to consider a Screen Door or Glass Door that is attached to the fireplace.

Screens for Large Fireplaces
Any screen that measures more than 40" W or 30" tall will need fixed panels. Screens over 40" Wide use fixed end panels. Screens over 30" tall use a fixed top panel. Here are a couple examples:
Screens with Custom Bottom Panel
These screens have a pattern or message with a custom bottom panel. You can have your own special message, pattern or name as well. These are great for fireplaces where the opening is raised slightly above the hearth. The overall height cannot exceed 30" without the addition of a fixed panel at the top, otherwise they will get top heavy. An alternative is to mount them to the fireplace so they don't tip over when opened.
