What's the difference between indoor and outdoor gas logs?
You can pretty much install any gas log indoors whether it was made for indoors or outdoors. but gas logs installed outdoors need to be made to withstand the elements. For outdoor fireplaces, we recommend using a stainless steel burner and R. H. Peterson is one of the only gas log manufacturers that offers a variety of stainless steel gas log burners for use in outdoor fireplaces. Also, because most safety pilot systems will not work in windy conditions, it is best to consider using a match light system outdoors. However, this will not work for outdoor fireplaces equipped to burn liquid propane because LP gas requires a safety pilot for gas logs. In such cases, there are a few pilot systems that Peterson makes specifically for use with LP gas outdoors. If you have further questions, please call and ask for one of our Gas Log Experts who will gladly help you make sure the log set you purchase is well designed for your application.
