The Minka Aire A180 Flush Mount Low Ceiling Adapter replaces and eliminates the included downrod and reduces the overall hanging height by about the length of the downord minus an inch. So for a fan that comes with a 4 1/2" downrod, the low ceiling adapter will reduce the overall height by about 3 1/2".
