Please send me a quote for a fireplace door set for a corner masonry fireplace. I would like an inset frame and the lintel depth is 5".
Long Opening Size: 40 3/8" W x 27" H
Short Opening Size: 18 3/4" W x 27" H
Assuming that the lintel is recessed 5", this is a pretty simple corner fireplace door application. We cannot tell from the picture if there is a post in the corner or not, so we will need to clarify that. If there is a post, we will need to know how far back from the corner it is on each side so we can make sure the subframe of the door will clear the post. We can use either aluminum or steel doors on this application, so we have started with an example of each. Aluminum doors have no frame on the corner whereas steel doors will have a frame. If there is no post, the frameless corner may be more appealing. If there is a post, a framed corner may be more appealing. Steel doors give you more custom options as far as how decorative patterns on the door frames.
Note: These mock-ups are not to scale and are meant to help you choose the model of your screen or door, not the finish. Although we may create a general representation of black, iron, bronze, gold and silver tones, you must choose your finish from our samples using the links below. Ask your project manager which samples apply to the items in your project.
Option #1: Stiletto Corner in Vintage Iron. This is an aluminum door frame with a frameless corner. The aluminum frames are mitered at the corner and joined during installation.
Carolina Window Pane
Option #2: Carolina Window Pane in Autumn Glow. This is a steel door with a framed corner. Steel doors are really two separate doors that butt together in the corner with a mitered edge.
Before - Short side return
Mesh & Insulation Options
The Mesh options are behind the glass so you can burn the fire with the doors open and still have spark protection. Great for real wood or gas logs since most gas long manufacturers insist that you have a screen in front of the logs when they are burning. Mesh panel doors are the most popular and are best for when there are toddlers present because they will not open backwards whereas the mesh screens are easily pushed in. Insulation goes between the back of the frame and the fireplace facing, providing a better seal.
Black Mesh Curtains - These slide back and forth on a rod behind the glass
Gate Mesh Doors - These are separate doors behind the glass that have a flat wire mesh and a black frame.
Insulation: Provides a better seal between the fireplace face and the door frame.
