Project 10108 - Glass Doors for Contemporary Fireplace
I would like an estimate for the Slim Moderne Fireplace Door (we want contemporary) - our current door is approximately 50 1/4 x 21 1/4. Twin door or bifold door, the espresso color or similar blackish/brown tone with clear glass doors.
Opening Size: 47 3/4" x 28 1/2"
The Slim Moderne is an excellent choice to modernize your fireplace. In order to quote the price, we will need to know the actual fireplace measurements since the opening will be smaller than the actual existing doors. Also, because your fireplace is quite wide and not very tall, we recommend bifold doors. Twin doors would likely swing out too wide and hit the hearth bumper. Even if the bumper was not there, two doors would be a little awkward in this size.
We have supplied links to each door below their corresponding picture so you can get an idea of the prices and options.
Note: These mock-ups are not to scale and are meant to help you choose the model of your screen or door, not the finish. Although we may create a general representation of black, iron, bronze, gold and silver tones, you must choose your finish from our samples using the links below. Ask your project manager which samples apply to the items in your project.

Before Picture 2: (Note from the Webmaster) This looks like an older original classic door from Portland Willamette. This door was popular back in the 1980's and I installed a lot of them.

Before Picture 4: Subsequent picture supplied with doors removed. Notice slight damage to fireplace where previous door was installed. The Standard Slim Moderne frame may not cover this area unless we make the frame wider.
Mesh & Insulation Options
The Mesh options are behind the glass so you can burn the fire with the doors open and still have spark protection. Great for real wood or gas logs since most gas long manufacturers insist that you have a screen in front of the logs when they are burning. Mesh panel doors are the most popular and are best for when there are toddlers present because they will not open backwards whereas the mesh screens are easily pushed in. Insulation goes between the back of the frame and the fireplace facing, providing a better seal.
Black Mesh Curtains - These slide back and forth on a rod behind the glass
Gate Mesh Doors - These are separate doors behind the glass that have a flat wire mesh and a black frame.
Insulation: Provides a better seal between the fireplace face and the door frame.
