Project 10115 - Glass Doors for Zero Clearance Fireplace with Marble
Customer Comments: We liked: Bedford Stock Size Fireplace Glass Doors for Masonry Fireplaces with gate mesh. with Rustic Black. We need new doors because ours are old and we also want something safer for our toddler.

Our Comments: The Bedford fireplace doors are not available for prefabricated zero clearance fireplaces like yours, they are only for masonry fireplaces. Even more, the width of the frame for the Bedford is too wide and would shrink the opening too much. Zero clearance fireplaces require doors that fit inside the opening or overlap only the black metal. In your case, the marble has been installed flush with the opening, so there is nothing to overlap and your doors must fit inside. This is a requirement in order to maintain proper airflow into the fireplace so as to keep it from overheating and causing the framing members in the wall to potentially catch fire. We have chosen options that we believe look great on your fireplace. The Aluminum doors (Stiletto ZC) are available with child safety clips that make it difficult for a child to open the doors but easy for an adult. The Steel doors (Legend ZC) are the highest quality and most sturdy being laser cut from a 3/16" thick sheet of solid steel. The Legend ZC door is available with keyed locks so there is no way for a child to get in (or anyone without the key) when they are locked.

Mesh & Insulation Options
The Mesh options are behind the glass so you can burn the fire with the doors open and still have spark protection. Great for real wood or gas logs since most gas long manufacturers insist that you have a screen in front of the logs when they are burning. Mesh panel doors are the most popular and are best for when there are toddlers present because they will not open backwards whereas the mesh screens are easily pushed in. Insulation goes between the back of the frame and the fireplace facing, providing a better seal.
Black Mesh Curtains - These slide back and forth on a rod behind the glass
Gate Mesh Doors - These are separate doors behind the glass that have a flat wire mesh and a black frame.
Insulation: Provides a better seal between the fireplace face and the door frame.
