Project 10131 - Glass Doors for Marble Fireplace

Customer Comments: The measurements are 40 3/4 x 20 1/2 and I’m looking for a unique yet reasonable glass door. I have a toddler and a newborn so I need a door ASAP! My toddler discovered she loves to play with the glass shards. It used to be a square fireplace but we just lifted it and made it rectangle and just moved into this new Home. The rest of my room is under construction so it’s tough to send pictures of it that would give you an idea of our style. But we are looking for a more modern/transitional look. The wall and border around the fireplace still needs patching and painting. Eventually we are going to re-tile this entire wall, including the fireplace, with a dark gray rustic tile look. Bht this is for now.

Fireplace Opening: 40 3/4" W x 20 1/2" H

Our Comments: There are a range of options for fireplace doors that will work with your fireplace. We have chosen to create most of the samples in a satin nickel finish to blend with the reflective fireback inside the fireplace. Black glass will completely hide the interior of the fireplace when the doors are closed, which will likely dissuade your children from wanting to open the doors and get to the glass. The aluminum doors can be made with child safety latches that must be depressed to open the doors. The Legend door can be made with actual keyed locks so there is no way for them to get in at all. But you will need to make sure the key is kept in a handy place so you don't lose it. Steel doors are the finest quality and most durable over time and are laser cut from a sheet of solid 3/16" thick steel. Aluminum doors are pieced together from extruded aluminum moldings with mitered corners much like a picture frame and are quite a bit less expensive than the steel doors.

We have supplied links to each door below their corresponding picture so you can get an idea of the prices and options.

Note: These mock-ups are not to scale and are meant to help you choose the model of your screen or door, not the finish. Although we may create a general representation of black, iron, bronze, gold and silver tones, you must choose your finish from our samples using the links below. Ask your project manager which samples apply to the items in your project.

Mesh & Insulation Options

The Mesh options are behind the glass so you can burn the fire with the doors open and still have spark protection. Great for real wood or gas logs since most gas long manufacturers insist that you have a screen in front of the logs when they are burning. Mesh panel doors are the most popular and are best for when there are toddlers present because they will not open backwards whereas the mesh screens are easily pushed in. Insulation goes between the back of the frame and the fireplace facing, providing a better seal.

Black Mesh Curtains - These slide back and forth on a rod behind the glass
Gate Mesh Doors - These are separate doors behind the glass that have a flat wire mesh and a black frame.
Insulation: Provides a better seal between the fireplace face and the door frame.
