Project 10190 - Glass Doors for Fireplace with Ledge

Customer Comments: Hi Terry, I am trying to decide on the right fireplace door. The prior door was an outside fit that measured 28" high x 36-3/4. I measured inside and it appears to be 28 x 35/3/4 at the smallest point. I like the look of the inside better but outside seems easier. Looking for stock size door, Bungalow or Savannah or other options.

Our Comments: Because of the overhanging ledge, stock sizes are very limited. The only door that comes close to fitting is the Savannah which measures 40" W x 27 1/2" H. Normally, we would custom make a door to fit under a ledge like this and we would make the door 1/4" shorter than the lintel. The stock Savannah would leave a 1/2" gap, which you might find acceptable or you can fill in with mortar. We have shown how this door looks as well as several others.

Fireplace Opening: 36 3/4" W x 28" H

Mesh & Insulation Options

The Mesh options are behind the glass so you can burn the fire with the doors open and still have spark protection. Great for real wood or gas logs since most gas long manufacturers insist that you have a screen in front of the logs when they are burning. Mesh panel doors are the most popular and are best for when there are toddlers present because they will not open backwards whereas the mesh screens are easily pushed in. Insulation goes between the back of the frame and the fireplace facing, providing a better seal.

Black Mesh Curtains - These slide back and forth on a rod behind the glass
Gate Mesh Doors - These are separate doors behind the glass that have a flat wire mesh and a black frame.
Insulation: Provides a better seal between the fireplace face and the door frame.
