Project 10222 - Glass Doors for See Through Rock Fireplace

Customer Comments: I have a double sided fireplace that I am looking to put doors on. I would prefer glass on one side with no doors needed just so we can see from the other side and doors on the other side.

Our Comments: Love the stonework on this fireplace. Regarding fixed glass panels (doors that do not open) - For safety purposes, we do not make fixed glass panels or doors that do not open. When you have a two sided fireplace like yours and you close off one side, the side you close off becomes the back of the fireplace and all of the flames from the other side are blown against it. Same holds true whether you block it off with glass or with bricks. Tempered glass cannot handle that much direct flame and most likely will shatter the first time you burn a fire. Ceramic glass can handle it better, but there are no guarantees even ceramic glass would not crack or shatter, and it is very expensive. So, just put operable doors on both sides and burn the fire with both doors open or both doors closed, but not one open and the other closed.

Mesh & Insulation Options

The Mesh options are behind the glass so you can burn the fire with the doors open and still have spark protection. Great for real wood or gas logs since most gas long manufacturers insist that you have a screen in front of the logs when they are burning. Mesh panel doors are the most popular and are best for when there are toddlers present because they will not open backwards whereas the mesh screens are easily pushed in. Insulation goes between the back of the frame and the fireplace facing, providing a better seal.

Black Mesh Curtains - These slide back and forth on a rod behind the glass
Gate Mesh Doors - These are separate doors behind the glass that have a flat wire mesh and a black frame.
Insulation: Provides a better seal between the fireplace face and the door frame.
