Project 10231 - Custom Fireplace Mesh Door for White Brick

Customer Comments: Wondering if the #21 Carolina style doors (free standing screen) can be made to fit my fireplace opening? My fireplace opening sits off the floor so I would ideally want the doors without feet and some type of flange to mount them to the brick surround from within the opening. The width of the brick opening is 29.25” at the narrowest to 29.75” at widest. The height of the brick opening is 31.25” to 31.75”. There is a steel bar to support the top brick that ranges from .5” to 1” from the front of the top edge and is about .75” in height.

Our Comments: The free standing screens are not meant to be attached to the fireplace. However, most of the free standing fireplace screens are designed after our fireplace glass doors, which are intended to be attached to the fireplace and most of our fireplace doors can be made with gate mesh instead of glass. So the bottom line is, yes we can do what you are asking, but the pricing is a little different. Here are some examples of the Carolina as a mesh panel fireplace door attached to the fireplace.

Mesh & Insulation Options

The Mesh options are behind the glass so you can burn the fire with the doors open and still have spark protection. Great for real wood or gas logs since most gas long manufacturers insist that you have a screen in front of the logs when they are burning. Mesh panel doors are the most popular and are best for when there are toddlers present because they will not open backwards whereas the mesh screens are easily pushed in. Insulation goes between the back of the frame and the fireplace facing, providing a better seal.

Black Mesh Curtains - These slide back and forth on a rod behind the glass
Gate Mesh Doors - These are separate doors behind the glass that have a flat wire mesh and a black frame.
Insulation: Provides a better seal between the fireplace face and the door frame.
