Project 10266 - Glass Doors for Traditional Brick Fireplace

Customer Comments: 1. Fireplace is 36.5” wide x 24.25” high.
2. We like the colors Vintage Iron, Natural Iron, Bronze Burst (although it looks like black on the website), and classic bronze, but we’re willing to take recommendations.
3. We have a flush hearth.
4. I didn’t see it on your website, but I believe Design Specialties will support 2 tones. So we thought maybe Vintage Iron on the Outside frame and Natural Iron on the Inside.
5. Some other question we had:
a. Is there a difference with the stainless steal mesh curtain vs. the black other than color?
b. We noticed that other websites ask for an Overlap fit or Inside Fit. We think we need the Overlap.
c. We also think we need the draft control at the bottom of the door. Is this standard?
d. Is there an option for flush mount doors or overlap doors?

Our Comments: We have created the examples you requested. The stainless steel mesh is designed to last a lifetime because it does not rust. Normally it is painted black, but it can be left in the stainless finish. Doors can come with or without a draft, we specify that when we create the order. The Carolina is available with a 1 1/2" with a standard 1" overlap or a 2" wide frame with a 1 1/2" overlap, although the amount of overlap can be specified anywhere in between those numbers. We will need to consider the height of the lintel when determining how much we can overlap the top depending on which frame width you choose.

Fireplace Dimensions: 36 1/2" W x 24 3/4" H

Note: These mock-ups are not to scale and are meant to help you choose the model of your screen or door, not the finish. Although we may create a general representation of black, iron, bronze, gold and silver tones, you must choose your finish from our samples using the links below. Ask your project manager which samples apply to the items in your project.

Mesh & Insulation Options

The Mesh options are behind the glass so you can burn the fire with the doors open and still have spark protection. Great for real wood or gas logs since most gas long manufacturers insist that you have a screen in front of the logs when they are burning. Mesh panel doors are the most popular and are best for when there are toddlers present because they will not open backwards whereas the mesh screens are easily pushed in. Insulation goes between the back of the frame and the fireplace facing, providing a better seal.

Black Mesh Curtains - These slide back and forth on a rod behind the glass
Gate Mesh Doors - These are separate doors behind the glass that have a flat wire mesh and a black frame.
Insulation: Provides a better seal between the fireplace face and the door frame.
