Project #10422 - Glass Doors for Fireplace

Customer Comments: Greetings - Great service and great looking products. Thanks much for the design consult...We have a large full brick fireplace that’s raised without a hearth. I’ve seen a few similar on your website – very impressive work!

Design Concepts: I hope this isn’t too general as it appears you all do great at dialing in the details

- Wood Burning Fireplace
- We lean towards black iron / old world design. We also like the very clean minimal look of your “#1 Stiletto” model with “Rugged Steel” handles.
- Clear glass doors.
- Two mesh screen doors.
- Dimensions
- Opening: 37.5” W x 30” H x 25” total depth from front of opening
- Please note the 37.5” W is nominal as it varies slightly based on individual brick placement

Thank you very much!

Our Comments: The Stiletto is not really appropriate for your fireplace because it is only designed to overlap about 1/2" to 3/4", which is not enough to cover the wide mortar joints around the opening. The option would be to do it as an inside fit and fill the gaps with mortar and then paint it, which I believe is too much work, so I have not included it as an example. We recommend you choose a door that will overlap at least 1" to look good. We have created mockups of such doors in various materials and levels of quality and price. Hope these help.

Fireplace Opening: 37 1/2" W x 25" H

Note: These mock-ups are not to scale and are meant to help you choose the model of your screen or door, not the finish. Although we may create a general representation of black, iron, bronze, gold and silver tones, you must choose your finish from our samples using the links below. Ask your project manager which samples apply to the items in your project.

Mesh & Insulation Options

The Mesh options are behind the glass so you can burn the fire with the doors open and still have spark protection. Great for real wood or gas logs since most gas long manufacturers insist that you have a screen in front of the logs when they are burning. Mesh panel doors are the most popular and are best for when there are toddlers present because they will not open backwards whereas the mesh screens are easily pushed in. Insulation goes between the back of the frame and the fireplace facing, providing a better seal.

Black Mesh Curtains - These slide back and forth on a rod behind the glass
Gate Mesh Doors - These are separate doors behind the glass that have a flat wire mesh and a black frame.
Insulation: Provides a better seal between the fireplace face and the door frame.
