Project #10589 - Glass Doors for Fireplace

Customer Comments: I am interested in the door DS-CUSTOM-CAROLINA-WP. The outside max opening is 41"w x 28"h. the inside where the door would sit against (the same plane around as the lintel) is from 25.5" high on the sides to 26.25" in the middle, and 39" wide. I suppose we would have to make a concrete edge for the door to sit against on the sides and also even it up on the bottom, and let it set against the lintel on the top? Similar to your Project 10114 - Glass Doors for Rough Stone Fireplace Option #2. What do you think?

Our Comments: We normally use the Legend door for applications like yours, which is what is featured in Project 10114 Option #2. The Legend is more customizable than the Carolina and can be made with a mortar flange that is like an angle iron around the outside back edge of the frame. This provides a surface for the mortar to adhere to so there is no need to build a mortar form and make a concrete edge before you install the door. This way, you just install the door and add the mortar while the door is in place. We are also able to make matching registers, which we included in the mockups.

Fireplace Opening: 39" W x 25 1/2" H

Note: These mock-ups are not to scale and are meant to help you choose the model of your screen or door, not the finish. Although we may create a general representation of black, iron, bronze, gold and silver tones, you must choose your finish from our samples using the links below. Mesh & Insulation Options

The Mesh options are behind the glass so you can burn the fire with the doors open and still have spark protection. Great for real wood or gas logs since most gas long manufacturers insist that you have a screen in front of the logs when they are burning. Mesh panel doors are the most popular and are best for when there are toddlers present because they will not open backwards whereas the mesh screens are easily pushed in. Insulation goes between the back of the frame and the fireplace facing, providing a better seal.

Black Mesh Curtains - These slide back and forth on a rod behind the glass
Gate Mesh Doors - These are separate doors behind the glass that have a flat wire mesh and a black frame.
Insulation: Provides a better seal between the fireplace face and the door frame.
